Playing hooky for one more day, Jim and I went to Illinois Beach State Park, near Zion. We just felt like sitting on a beach, soaking in some rays, and this was the place to do it. The drive took about an hour and a half, and, as a state park, entrance was free.
There is nothing fancy here, just water, sky, and sand, but it was enough. Gulls cruised overhead, we beachcombed, stared at the water, at the sky . . . It was a great place to do nothing.
I attempted a watercolor, with water from the lake.
The view from where we sat.
It was a beautiful day.
